The purpose of The C. Alma Baker Trust is ‘the furtherance of the science of agriculture; the advancement of education; and such other charitable purposes as the Trustees shall from time to time think fit’. The Trust, which operates in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, draws most of its revenue from Limestone Downs, a large sheep, beef and dairy farm on New Zealand’s North Island west coast near Port Waikato. Management of the property is in the hands of C. Alma Baker Trust (NZ) Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary.

The Trust makes regular awards in support of research projects and postgraduate scholarships in the fields of agriculture, agriculture-related technologies, and the study of rural society; fellowships to support the travel of senior scientists between the United Kingdom and New Zealand; scholarships for students studying Maori Language at Waikato University; and young farmers from the United Kingdom who are given the opportunity to work at Limestone Downs.

More information on The Trust, its history, farming operations at Limestone Downs, and how to apply for awards, grants and scholarships is provided on this website, together with contact details.
